Midland Wado Association
Sensei Steve | 4th Dan

I began my journey in Wado Karate in January 1998 at Oadby Karate Club, training under Sensei Lee Goold and Sensei Russell Goold. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to the art, earning my 4th Dan black belt and now leading the very club where I started.

Beyond karate, I have a background in strategic thinking, having been a former chess master. I currently work as a primary school teacher in Leicestershire, where I apply my passion for teaching both in the classroom and in the dojo.

I believe in keeping an open mind when training—there's always room for growth and refinement. My ambition is not just to master Wado Karate, but to teach and inspire others in all aspects of the art.

In addition to my martial arts qualifications, I hold a St. John's full sports first aid certificate and an enhanced CRB certificate, ensuring a safe and professional training environment for all students.

Sensei John | 3rd Dan

I began my Wado Ryu Karate training at Oadby Karate Club in 1994 under Sensei Lee Goold and Sensei Russell Goold. Over the years, I have expanded my martial arts knowledge, exploring different disciplines to deepen my understanding of combat and movement.

I also spent time studying Wing Chun and hope to return to it in the future. In addition to my karate experience, I am a qualified senior amateur boxing coach with 32 years of experience and a professional boxing coach registered with the British Boxing Board of Control for 25 years.

I believe in keeping an open mind when training—there's always room for growth and refinement. My ambition is not just to master Wado Karate, but to teach and inspire others in all aspects of the art.

My passion lies in both learning and teaching, and I strive to share my knowledge across multiple martial arts disciplines, helping students develop their skills and confidence.

Sensei Armani | 1st Dan

I started karate over 10 years ago, training under Sensei John and Sensei Steve. Since then, it's become a huge part of my life.

Martial arts isn't just something I do—it's something I love. I'm always looking to improve, push myself, and learn more. Whether it's training, teaching, or just being part of the karate community, I enjoy every bit of it.

I believe in keeping an open mind when training—there's always room for growth and refinement.

My goal is to keep growing and help others find the same passion for martial arts that I have.

Sensei Dylan | 1st Dan

I've been doing karate for over 10 years, and I've been training alongside my brother, Armani, the whole time. There's always some friendly competition between us—constantly trying to outdo each other, but it's all in good fun!

It's been great growing in karate together, and I'm excited to keep learning, improving, and sharing what I've learned with others.
